In a 90-62 win over Fordham on Thursday, St. John’s guard Shamorie Ponds showed why BIG EAST coaches tabbed him Preseason Freshman of the Year. The 6-1 guard filled the stat sheet with 26 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and four steals. He shot 9-of-13 from the floor and 7-of-11 from 3-point range. Federico Mussini added 20 points.
