MBB Minute -- Shamorie Ponds' 44 Points Tops High-Scoring Saturday

On a Saturday when nine BIG EAST players scored 24 points or more, St. John’s Shamorie Ponds led the crowd with 44 points – tying the fifth highest scoring total in a BIG EAST game – in the Red Storm’s 86-78 win over Marquette (14-11, 5-8) at Carnesecca Arena. Ponds’ scoring blast also broke the Carnesecca record. Marquette’s Andrew Rowsey posted the second best scoring output of the day with 34 points. After losing 11 in a row, St. John’s (13-13, 2-11) has won three straight.

The Villanova-Butler game had two players reach 30 points, Butler’s Kelan Martin and Villanova’s Donte DiVincenzo.
