MBB Minute – Marquette’s Howard Ties League Scoring Record With 52 Points; Creighton Wins

Marquette’s Markus Howard had a night to remember Wednesday night at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center when he tied the BIG EAST single game scoring record with 52 points and helped the Golden Eagles beat Providence 95-90 in overtime. In the other BIG EAST contest, Creighton rallied to defeat St. John’s 78-71 in Omaha.

Howard tied the mark of Providence’s MarShon Brooks, who had 52 points (also at the Dunk) against Notre Dame on Feb. 23, 2011. Howard also broke the BIG EAST mark for 3-pointers made in a game by connecting on 11 from beyond the arc.
