In Sunday’s action, Georgetown led most of the way in its game against St. John’s at Madison Square Garden, then held off a late rally to grab an 89-78 victory. Freshman Mac McClung scored a game-high 25 points and Jessie Govan helped with 20 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Shamorie Ponds led four Red Storm players in double figures with 21 points. Georgetown is 13-7 overall and 3-7 in the BIG EAST. St. John’s is 15-5 and 3-5.
Providence’s Alpha Diallo was 14-of-14 from the foul line, including four free throws in the final 10 seconds to lift the Friars to a 70-67 win over visiting DePaul.
