Playing at home on Saturday, Creighton and Xavier moved to 6-0, while Marquette eclipsed the 100-point mark for a second straight game. Providence lost to Virginia in the title game of the Emerald Coast Classic.
After a sluggish first 20 minutes, Creighton got it going in the second half in an 82-52 win against Loyola, Md. The Bluejays outscored the Greyhounds 52-27 after intermission. Freshman Justin Patton shot 8-of-8 from the floor and posted team highs of 17 points and six rebounds. Marcus Foster added 16 points. The Bluejays shot 55.7 percent from the field. They are the only team in the nation to shoot 50 percent or better in every game this season.
