One of the early-season themes in the BIG EAST was an overall younger look to the league with some teams counting on new stars to emerge. BIG EAST teams were 5-0 on Saturday with some fresh faces taking the lead, but there were still key contributions from experienced hands.
Villanova had help from both groups with veteran Phil Booth and sophomore Collin Gillespie notching scoring highs in an 86-53 win over Quinnipiac at Wells Fargo Center. Booth had 23 points and Gillespie added 16 points. The Wildcats started the game with a 9-3 spurt and were not seriously challenged.
