NEW YORK – Marquette guard Markus Howard has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Georgetown guard James Akinjo has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Howard led Marquette to a road win at Butler while Akinjo led the Hoyas in scoring in a 1-1 week.

Markus Howard, Marquette, G, Jr. – Howard poured in 32 points in Marquette’s only game of the week, a 76-58 win at Butler. The junior shot 14-of-23 (.609) from the floor and grabbed five rebounds.
