Marquette's Howard, Georgetown's Akinjo Earn #BIGEASTmbb Honors

NEW YORK – For the fourth time this season, Marquette guard Markus Howard has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Georgetown’s James Akinjo has taken BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors for the second time. Howard broke the BIG EAST single-game scoring record in a 2-0 week and Akinjo made critical contributions in a double-overtime victory.

Markus Howard, Marquette, G, Jr. – Howard takes Player of the Week honors after averaging 39.5 points in a pair of victories. In a 106-104 overtime win at Creighton, Howard broke his own BIG EAST single-game scoring mark by pouring in 53 points.
