Liberty Advances to BIG EAST Final after Outpacing Providence, 1-0

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – After almost 64 minutes of a back-and-forth battle between No. 2 seed Liberty and third-seeded Providence, the Lady Flames claimed the last seat in the BIG EAST Championship, presented by Jeep, with a 1-0 victory over the Friars on Friday at the Temple Sports Complex and Howarth Field.

Liberty’s offense paced the matchup with 23 shots and nine penalty corners while Providence’s Megan Guilbert kept the Friars in the matchup with a game-best eight saves.

With the scored tied at zero after the first half, Liberty senior Bethany Barr scored the decision maker with 6:55 left in regulation.
