NEW YORK – BIG EAST teams combined for a 5-3 record on the first official night of the 2019 women’s soccer season. The results included Villanova’s 1-0 upset of 24th-ranked LSU, an impressive comeback by Xavier off the foot of Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Samantha Dewey and a win for Providence over nearby rival and future conference foe Connecticut. The top two teams in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches’ Poll were also victorious on the road on Monday night as No. 7 Georgetown won at James Madison and RV Butler toppled Morehead State.
