Seton Hall holds off Providence, while St. John’s edges Creighton in overtime to pick up first league wins.

After a back-and-forth opening few minutes, the Pirates went ahead on a Donnaizha Fountain three-pointer with six minutes left in the opening frame and never looked back. Fountain finished with game highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead The Hall (9-6, 1-3 BIG EAST) to their first league win of the year. Providence (8-8, 1-3) trimmed a once 17-point margin down to seven in the fourth quarter but the Pirates hung on thanks to Inja Butina’s free-throws down the stretch.
