WASHINGTON - Georgetown University’s women’s soccer team blanked visiting No. 22 Rutgers in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon at Shaw Field. The shutout is the 14th of the season for the Hoyas who improve to 18-2-3 overall on the season.
With the victory, Georgetown advances to face No. 15 Virginia in the third round on Sunday, Nov. 20, at noon. The contest is a rematch of the Blue & Gray’s 3-2 victory over the then-third ranked Cavaliers on Sept. 11. Virginia defeated Penn State, 3-0, in the other second round game of the day to set up Sunday’s rematch against the Hoyas.
