Five UConn WBB Alums Win Gold with United States in Tokyo

TOKYO – Five former members of the UConn women's basketball team helped the United States to its seventh straight gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Team USA defeated Japan, 90-75, in the gold medal game.

The United States featured UConn alums Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Tina Charles, Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier.

Bird and Taurasi made history as the first basketball players in Olympic history to win five gold medals. Bird is 35-0 in Olympic games while Taurasi is 37-0. At 40 years old, Bird is the oldest player to win Olympic gold in basketball.
