COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Five former standouts for the UConn women's basketball team were selected to the 2020 U.S. Olympic Women's Basketball Team, which was announced Monday morning. Sue Bird, Tina Charles, Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi will represent USA Basketball in Tokyo.
Four-time Olympians Bird and Taurasi look to be the seventh and eighth basketball athletes all-time to compete in five Olympics (Teresa Edwards, USA, 1984-2000, Juan Carlos Navarro, Spain, 2000-16; Adriana Moisés Pinto, Brazil, 2000-16; Oscar Schmidt, Brazil, 1980-86; Andrew Gaze, Australia, 1984-2000; Teófilo Cruz, Puerto Rico, 1960-76).
Charles will compete in her third Olympics while Stewart will appear in her second.
