WASHINGTON – University of Denver men’s lacrosse junior attackman Connor Cannizzaro has been named one of the five finalists for the prestigious Tewaaraton Award, the committee announced on Sunday.

Cannizzaro is the second Pioneer to be selected as a finalist for the award, and the fourth player under head coach Bill Tierney to be among the final five players, a list that includes 2015 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player Wesley Berg and his son and former volunteer assistant Trevor Tierney.

Cannizzaro was named the 2016 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year earlier this month, leading the second-ranked Pioneers in points with 69 on a team-high 46 goals and 23 assists.
