COVID-19 continues to impact the college basketball world as the start of the season draws closer.
On Thursday afternoon, two separate Big East programs announced that they were dealing with COVID outbreaks and would be cancelling early season games.
First, the DePaul Blue Demons announced their games on November 25, November 28, and December 1 would not be played due to COVID. DePaul did not release the number of athletes affected, nor the names, citing privacy reasons.
DePaul Athletic Director DeWayne Peevy released a statement Thursday afternoon, which can be found below.
“We are disappointed the men’s basketball program will be unable to start the season as planned after all the hard work our student-athletes, coaches, and staff have put into preparing for these games.
