NEW YORK – The Creighton Bluejays topped the 2019 BIG EAST Softball Preseason Coaches’ Poll for the first time in program history, announced by the league office on Thursday. Coming off a runner-up finish in the 2018 campaign, the Bluejays were chosen by the eight head coaches as the team most likely to hoist the conference trophy in May. The top four teams in the poll each received at least one first-place vote. Creighton breaks up a three-year streak in which St. John’s was picked as the preseason favorite.
Creighton garnered 43 total points in the poll including five first-place votes.
