CHAMPIONS! Georgetown Wins NCAA Men’s Soccer Title

Georgetown won its first men’s soccer national championship trophy defeating Virginia 7-6 in penalty kicks.

Cary, N.C. – The Georgetown Hoyas became the third BIG EAST men’s soccer program to win the College Cup with a dramatic final at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Third-seeded Georgetown finished off its title run with a 7-6 penalty kick victory over top-seeded Virginia after a 3-3 tie through double overtime.

The championship game was tied three times, with Georgetown (20-1-3) earning the advantage twice. The contest also featured the top two defenses in Division I men's soccer.
