After trailing for nearly 36 minutes, St. John’s rallied to win 74-70 at Connecticut in an afternoon contest on MLK Day.
A basket by Marcellus Earlington with 4:18 left gave the Johnnies a 64-63 lead. Earlington finished with 15 points. St. John’s (8-7, 3-6 BIG EAST) made 6-of-9 from 3-point range in the second half, while capturing its first road win of the season. Freshman Posh Alexander made all-around contributions with 18 points, six assists, three steals and strong defensive play. UConn (7-2, 4-2 BIG EAST) was led by guards RJ Cole and Tyrese Martin, who scored 18 and 14 points, respectively.
