While there is much buzz surrounding the fifth-year players in college basketball who are utilizing the extra year of eligibility granted due to COVID-19, the sophomores are the ones who could benefit the most entering the 2021-22 season. The transition from high school to the college game carries its own challenges, and the pandemic greatly altered the preseason plans of player development for coaching staffs. Even in a wild season, last year’s BIG EAST freshman corps showed some real flashes, and there are some legitimate all-conference candidates in this group.
