Recapping Week One of BIG EAST Action
The first week of league competition saw conference newcomers, Liberty and Quinnipiac, claim victories in their respective inaugural BIG EAST matchups. The Flames registered 22 shots, defeating the Villanova, 5-1. Quinnipiac triumphed over Georgetown, 4-2. In the third game of the weekend, No. 3 UConn outlasted No. 17 Old Dominion, 2-1, with two goals from senior Anna Middendorf. In the final game, Providence senior Adrienne Houle netted a goal in the 81st minute to clinch a 3-2 overtime victory for the Friars.
Standing Strong
With the field hockey season now in conference play, two BIG EAST teams continue in the top 20 of the National Field Hockey Coaches’ Association (NFHCA) poll and the NCAA Field Hockey RPI.
