NEW YORK – With Friday’s 7-6 Seton Hall victory in Indianapolis, the Pirates guaranteed themselves and their New York neighbor, St. John’s a spot in the BIG EAST Championship field, regardless of play tomorrow. The Red Storm lost 8-2 in Queens to Creighton, which puts the Pirates as the No. 3 seed and St. John’s as the No. 4 seed. Xavier defeated Villanova 15-10 in Cincinnati, as the Musketeers continue to tie Creighton for league-leader at 13-4 in BIG EAST play.
Tomorrow’s games will determine seeding between the top two seeds – Xavier and Creighton. Should both teams win, the Musketeers and Bluejays will share the title and Xavier would have the No.
