On Thursday afternoon, the Big East announced an updated game cancellation policy for men’s and women’s basketball.
For the 2021-22 season, any team with less than the minimum five players able to participate in a game will forfeit. There will not be an exception for cases of COVID-19. Their opponent will receive a win.
If both teams are unable to field a team for any given game, then both teams will forfeit the game and receive a loss.
These rules apply for 2021-22 Big East conference games. Last season, games were cancelled and postponed to adjust for COVID.
