The Bears are optimistic that first-round pick Kevin White will be ready for Week 1. He has currently been out for about seven weeks with shin splints. Although the Bears are hopeful he'll be ready, head coach John Fox seems much more hopeful than confident. "First and foremost, he's been shut down for seven weeks," Fox said. "So conditioning, his cardio, a lot of his soft tissue stuff, you don't want to rush him back and all of a sudden he has another problem—maybe a hamstring compensating—all the things that go along with getting guys out there too fast … From our position, we never give timelines because if he doesn't make it or he's late, it's a 'setback.
