Texas football coach Tom Herman discussed fans' "double standard" toward black student-athletes in the aftermath of George Floyd's killing.
In an interview with the Austin American-Statesman's Brian Davis, Herman said fans might cheer on black players on game days and then come to see them differently away from the field:
"Can the average fan relate? No, they can't. There's a double standard maybe a little bit. We're going to pack 100,000 people into DKR and millions watch on TV that are predominantly white — not all of them certainly, but most of 'em white.
