West Virginia is finalizing a five-year contract to hire Darian DeVries as the school's next men's basketball coach, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.
DeVries has served as the head men's basketball coach at Drake since 2018.
The Bulldogs won the MVC tournament and made the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two seasons under DeVries' leadership.
DeVries will take the place interim head coach Josh Eilert, who replaced former head coach Bob Huggins last June.
The Mountaineers decided to move on from Eilert after West Virginia finished the 2023-24 with a 9-23 overall record, their first campaign with fewer than 10 wins since 2002.
