A year ago at this time, Iowa State wasn’t ready for success.
“And it showed,” coach Matt Campbell said Saturday after the Cyclones wrapped spring practice.
In Campbell’s first season, Iowa State opened with a home loss to FCS Northern Iowa. It was blown out a week later at Iowa and finished 3-9, missing a bowl game for the fourth straight season.
Part of the problem tied directly to the offseason, Campbell said.
“A year ago, in the last week of spring practice, we couldn’t wait to be done,” the second-year coach told ESPN.
