Signing day is behind us. The grades are in. We’re on to projecting these recruits’ impact on 2017. This week, we examine one player at each conference school with the potential to make a difference right away.
Up next is Texas Tech.
Instant impact recruit: CB Octavious Morgan
Texas Tech fielded possibly the worst secondary in all of the FBS in 2016, ranking among the bottom 10 nationally in yards allowed per play, per pass attempt, per completion, points allowed per game and opponent QBR.
It signed six defensive backs in the Class of 2017 -- none more important than Morgan, a four-star prospect out of Butler (Kansas) Community College, who enrolled in January after turning down offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, West Virginia and others.
