NORMAN, Okla. -- When Baker Mayfield first decided he would be transferring from Texas Tech to Oklahoma, the move looked like a bad one for all involved.
The Red Raiders were losing the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year to a conference rival.
The Sooners, with Trevor Knight and Blake Bell, already had a quarterback logjam. And Mayfield was headed to a place where the chances of him ever starting again seemed slim at best.
But "things tend to work themselves out,” Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury said.
In Mayfield’s case, they did, all the way around.
