A year later, Texas' win over Oklahoma seems like nothing but false hope

AUSTIN, Texas -- The defining image of Texas' finest day under Charlie Strong is one of the head coach pointing his finger straight at the camera, with the Golden Hat trophy atop his head and a giant grin on his face. Behind Strong, the Oklahoma side of the Cotton Bowl is nearly empty. His partying fan base and a more promising future are in front of him.

Players shouted, “We did this for you, Coach!” A team battling a 1-4 record and a ton of pressure finally got its breakthrough. Players were sick of the hot seat talk and sick of losing, and they finally fought back.
