Baylor needs no reminders about what Makai Mason can do in an NCAA Tournament game.
Now can the senior guard do it for the Bears? Three years ago, when he was a sophomore at Yale, Mason scored 31 points as the Bulldogs upset Baylor in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Senior guard King McClure was ruefully remembering the Yale loss this week when he was reminded that Mason was now on his side.
“Oh definitely,” McClure said. “That helps. That helps.”
Now Mason, McClure and freshman guard Jared Butler represent one of Baylor’s best chances to dent the Syracuse trademark zone defense and break a four-game losing streak in the NCAA West Regional in Salt Lake City.
