Baylor-ex Pierre Jackson was leading the D-League with a 29.1-point scoring average for the Frisco-based Texas Legends.
It was a matter of time before an NBA team called up the explosive guard who is listed at 5-11, but looks to be no taller than 5-8.
Taking no chances, the Mavericks on Tuesday not only promoted Jackson to the NBA roster, but also, according to a team source, gave him a partially guaranteed two-year contract. To make room on the roster, Dallas waived guard Jonathan Gibson.
"We wanted to make sure that we got a real close look at him," said Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle, adding that he believes Jackson is more of a pure point guard than Gibson.
