WACO -- It’s been awhile since a Gary Patterson team has led the NCAA in defense.
But that doesn’t mean his TCU Horned Frogs have forgotten how to play without the football.
And that was the difference Saturday in TCU’s annual grudge match with Baylor. The Horned Frogs played defense. The Bears didn’t.
Baylor entered the game with one of the nation’s most explosive offenses -- a unit that ranked third in yards, fourth in rushing and 11th in scoring. But the Horned Frogs gave Patterson a flashback to his Mountain West days with a slam-the-door shut effort in the first half that propelled the underdog Frogs to the 62-22 upset of the 17th-ranked Bears.
