Baylor is in negotiations with Arkansas State head coach Blake Anderson to fill its own coaching vacancy, FootballScoop.com reported on Monday.
Anderson is 23-15 in his three seasons at Arkansas State, winning two Sun Belt championships in the last two seasons but losing both bowl game appearances in his career. Anderson, a Texas native who runs the up-tempo offense that Baylor AD Mack Rhoades wants to keep with his next coach, actually attended Baylor himself before transferring to Sam Houston State to complete his schooling.
Baylor has gone through a number of candidates so far in its coaching search, from SMU's Chad Morris to Colorado's Mike MacIntyre to Western Kentucky's Jeff Brohm.
