Recruiting report card: Baylor strikes gold on QB Charlie Brewer in 2017 class

Now that the early signing period has arrived, here is the third in our four-part series looking back at Baylor's past four recruiting classes. Here's a look back at the 2017 class:

Best player in the class

Quarterback Charlie Brewer: After their last two quarterbacks departed, the Bears struck gold in Austin Lake Travis quarterback Charlie Brewer. He stole the starting job from Zach Smith his freshmen season and in his sophomore year completed 61.5 percent of his passes for 2,635 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Most surprising player in the class

Defensive tackle James Lynch: As a freshman, Lynch impressed with three sacks and five tackles for a loss.
