No. 2 Baylor's worst fear was realized Monday. Quarterback Seth Russell will require neck surgery that will end his season, the school announced Monday.
Russell fractured a bone in his neck late in Saturday's win over Iowa State. According to the school's announcment, he suffered damage to the cervical vertebra and visited a specialist on Monday. The recovery period is typically six months.
“Seth exemplifies the spirit and will of our football team, and through this our team will keep that spirit alive and well for him,” Bears coach Art Briles said in the statement.
