Week eight of the college football season is in the books, and one team that was setting itself up for a run to the college football playoff was shown the door when the Utah Utes were upset by USC Saturday night.
The loss opens up the door for other teams that may have been on the outside looking in. For ESPN’s top college football analyst, Kirk Herbstreit, his playoff projections after week eight sees the Pac-12 being left out of the playoff system with Utah’s loss:

It would be hard to argue against any of those four teams, though we will see what happens when a MRI is done on Baylor quarterback Seth Russell’s neck after he suffered an injury late in the Bears’ win over Iowa State on Saturday.
