Sophomore Charlie Brewer won the starting quarterback battle nearly one month ago against senior Jalan McClendon.
But with the Bears trailing West Virginia 34-0 in the second quarter, head coach Matt Rhule turned to his senior quarterback for the first time since a brief appearance against Oklahoma on Sept. 29.
Through one-and-a-half quarters, Brewer completed 1 of 8 passes for 22 yards and three interceptions.
It was the first game in Brewer's collegiate career where he has thrown more than one interception.
