FLORENCE, Italy -- They don't hear many Texas accents in this part of the world. Even when Art Briles speaks English, Italians who speak English tell him to slow down. His Italian? Well, does "pasta" count?
"I've got enough double language with football to worry about ordering a cup of coffee," he said.
Briles was sitting in his no-frills office Friday night the day before he started the attempted resurrection of his poleaxed coaching career. Three years after Baylor fired him over his handling of rape allegations involving football players, Briles has resurfaced in a city famous for, ironically, another Renaissance.
