AUSTIN - Baylor quarterback Seth Russell suffered his first loss as a college starter after 14 consecutive wins.
He did his best to try to deliver a victory in a 35-34 loss Saturday at Texas. While Russell didn’t have great numbers throwing (14 of 28 for 226 for two touchdowns), he ran for a season-high 138 yards on 21 carries, including a 50-yard TD. Russell, who suffered a broken bone in his neck last season, hurdled Texas defensive back Dylan Haines on a fourth-quarter run.
“I was a high jumper in middle school but didn’t pursue it in high school,” Russell said.
