The hopes of a 2015 national championship for the Baylor Bears took a major hit on Monday when starting quarterback Seth Russell was declared out for the rest of the season with a neck injury suffered in Saturday’s win over Iowa State that will require the signal caller to have surgery:
The decision comes after Russell visited a specialist Monday who recommended surgery, which has a typical recovery period of six months.
“Seth exemplifies the spirit and will of our football team,” head coach Art Briles said, “and through this our team will keep that spirit alive and well for him.
