I’m going to wrap up June with some unpopular opinions. With training camp and media days starting next month, I expect the football news cycle to pick up tremendously. And with the early start to the season this year, July is also the last month without any college football games.
1.) I’m not a fan of the new fair-catch rule that was enacted last season on kickoffs. Special teams play is one of the most exciting aspects of football. And I think it takes away from both teams a chance to swing momentum. While long returns always make the highlight reels, there is also a lot to be said about a hard hitting tackle that stops a return man in his tracks.
