In its home Big 12 opener, Baylor (9-5, 1-1) escaped with a 73-70 win over Iowa State (12-3, 2-1) on Tuesday in Waco.
Here are three takeaways from the Bears' first conference win of the season.
Makai Mason picked up where he left off
Fresh off leading what was almost an impressive comeback win against TCU on Sunday, senior guard Makai Mason picked up where he left off.
Mason scored a season-high 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting and 4-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc.
Mason also showed up when the Bears needed him most, hitting four of five free throws in the final minute of the game.
