Baylor vs. Kansas State Preview and Prediction

The Baylor Bears and Kansas State Wildcats meet up for a battle of two of the top teams in the Big 12 as they look to make a final statement in the regular season schedule.

Records:

Baylor: 10-1 (7-1 Big 12)

Kansas State: 9-2 (7-1 Big 12)

Last Meeting: Baylor won 35-25 in 2013

Baylor Outlook: The Bears just avoided an upset to Texas Tech last week, keeping their slim hopes of a playoff birth alive.

Baylor comes in with the top scoring team in the country thanks to a dynamic duo of quarterback Bryce Petty (2,893 yards and 25 touchdowns) and running back Shock Linwood (1,135 yards and 15 touchdowns).

The Bears have scored 40+ points a whopping nine times this season on their way to an average of nearly 50 points per game.

Kansas State Outlook: The Wildcats come into this game with just two losses, both of which came against top-10 ranked teams in Auburn and TCU.

Led by dual threat quarterback Jake Waters, who has over 3,200 total yards and 26 total touchdowns, the Wildcats offense has been solid through the air and on the ground this year.

That output has resulted in five games of 40+ points and an average 36.6 per game for the offense.

What to watch for: In what would appear to be a shootout on paper, these underrated defenses could prove to be the true difference makers.

This isn't likely to turn into a defensive battle, but it could take just one big play on the defensive side of the ball to turn the tide of this evenly matched contest.

Prediction:

Baylor - 38, Kansas State - 30

Baylor has just enough firepower to overcome a solid K-State defense, which will be the difference in this game. Expect the contest to come down to the final few possessions.
