Terrell Suggs’ season-ending injury has opened the door for another Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker, rookie Za’Darius Smith.
At the start of Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos, the short-term future did not look too bright for Smith, as in a surprising move by head coach John Harbaugh, he was a healthy scratch.
But with Suggs sidelined, and despite the signing of veteran Jason Babin, Smith figures to be a regular on the active list for the foreseeable future. Losing a premier edge player such as Suggs is hard to overcome, and with little depth on the edge, it is unlikely that this is an issue the Ravens can simply patch up and move on from.
