To football fans, training camp is the first snow of the winter season—the holiday season. Summer has been long gone and while it’s starting to cool off more rapidly, you still welcome the snow because you know presents and holiday warmth are upon everybody you’re friends and family with.
The first day of training camp is the texts and calls from relatives asking, “What would you like for Christmas/Hanukkah?” And just like those calls, you try to be semi-specific without outright asking.
It’s the response of, “I’m looking for a new peacoat,” or, “A 1,000-yard receiver and a pass-rusher to pair with Matt Judon.
