A high-ranking military official reportedly advised the Baltimore Ravens against signing free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick before the 2017 season if he continued his silent protests during the national anthem.
TMZ Sports didn't name the official or service branch, but said the person was among a number of friends from whom head coach John Harbaugh solicited advice on the matter. The military official reportedly advised the team to give Kaepernick a set of rules to follow if he didn't want to get cut.
Harbaugh independently brought up Kaepernick's name in speaking to reporters before the season, sparking several weeks of controversy over the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback.
