Jimmy Smith rebounded from a poor 2015 to post a solid PFF rating of 76.2, and the team also added former Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr, who ranked 50th among cornerbacks with a PFF rating of 75.3 last year.
With a solid cornerback core, they don’t need to find a starting cornerback, meaning they could take a gamble on Washington’s Sidney Jones in the second or third round and essentially redshirt him for a year.
Jones’ 2017 status is uncertain, but his PFF rating of 86.
