Two Maryland police departments have been awarded K-9 grants from the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation at The Giving Back Fund.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback will distribute grants to the Annapolis Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
"We're very fortunate to be in the position that we are able to help these K-9 units. The work that is performed by the dogs and their handlers as well as the bond that is formed is incredible. We're just thrilled to do our small part," Roethlisberger said in a statement.
The Annapolis Police Department will use the grant to buy safety equipment for its K-9 unit, while the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office plans to use the funds to replace a recently retired dog.
