Baltimore Ravens running back Justin Forsett is coordinating an effort among about 20 NFL players to donate $100,000 worth of body wipes and water to Flint, Michigan, where a state of emergency has been declared because of toxic lead contamination in the city's drinking water.
The NFL players teamed up with the United Way to help distribute the goods to schools and senior homes. Forsett, 49ers wide receiver Torrey Smith and Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch are scheduled to visit Flint on Tuesday.
"We are not trying to just put a Band-Aid on the situation, but are looking to make a real impact and hopefully work on long-term solutions," Forsett wrote on his personal website.
